Dress Code

Whittier Elementary School has a uniform/dress code policy, that is approved by Waukegan School Board.

All students are expected to be in uniform every day.

Whittier uniform colors are navy blue, grey and white. The uniform will consist of:

  • Solid navy blue jumpers and skirts
  • Solid navy blue shorts and "skorts"
  • Solid navy blue or khaki pants
  • Any Whittier related attire


  • Solid white, grey or navy blue shirts with collars
  • Solid white, grey or navy blue sweaters or sweatshirts
  • Solid white, grey or navy blue sweaters or sweatshirts
  • Any Whittier related attire


  • Gym shoes are recommended (velcro shoes for students unable to tie yet)
  • Students must have gym shoes for PE

NOT Acceptable:

  • Blue jeans, mini skirts, short shorts or spandex
  • Shirts with no collars (unless Whittier attire)
  • Shirts with designs or colors, other than Whittier attire
  • Tank tops or sleeveless shirts
  • Shoes with wheels or novelty shoes that impede walking


  • During the school year, we will have occasional special dress days in which the students may participate. These days will always be noted on the monthly school calendar.
  • Students not in uniform or inappropriately dressed will call home for a change of clothes to be brought to school. Excessive out of uniform days may result in disciplinary action. School Administration will use their discretion on an individual basis.
